Heavy snowfall expected across more cities in China

China is now preparing for a snow season. Many cities in Northern and Western China witnessed snow in recent days and more are expected to see their first snow of the season. This comes amid a seasonal phase called "major snow”, that will mark an increased likelihood of snowfall according to one of the twenty-four phases in the traditional Chinese calender which divides the year to guide agricultural activity.
Snow has descended on Northern China’s Hebei Province. It began on Saturday night, a day before the seasonal phase of "major snow."
The local weather authority issued warnings against cold wave, and heavy winds on Sunday afternoon. Temperatures tumbled 12 degree Celsius in the northern part of Xinjiang. The latest forecast shows snow will fall in central, eastern and northeastern China in the coming days. The Yunnan and Guizhou Plateau will experience sleet.
